Creosote glaze from slow-burning wood
Why it happens here
Lambton winters are cold and long, and many homeowners burn wood logs at low temperatures to stretch the fuel. Low-temperature fires produce more creosote, and the windy conditions here cool the flue further, which makes the creosote harden into glaze.
Our approach
We use a Sooteater rotary brush and chimney rods to remove glaze without damaging the flue liner. For heavy deposits, we explain the option of a creosote sweeping log between professional cleanings. We also show you how to burn hotter, cleaner fires to reduce buildup.
